Hanover, NH — On Wednesday, both the Amherst men’s and women’s teams traveled to Dartmouth College. The eleventh-ranked men’s squad fell 1-8 to the seventh-ranked team in the nation. Amherst’s sole win came at the number eight position. Jerome Giovinazzo defeated Darthmouth’s James Crandell 3-1. Five other Jeffs won at least one game in their individual matches.

The twenty-second-ranked women’s team was shutout by the sixth-ranked team in the nation. Amherst’s Caroline Shannon (#1) had a challenging match in her hometown. She was shutout by last season’s seventeenth-ranked individual player, Ashley Malenchak.

This weekend Williams College had matches at Cornell and at Hobart and William Smith. The men beat Cornell by a score of 8-1 and beat Hobart 9-0. The women beat Cornell by a score of 8-1 and beat William Smith 9-0.
