Upcoming Squash Tournaments
Published November 5, 2007 by Western Mass Squash | ArticlesNorthampton, MA — For the 2007 – 2008 season, there are many upcoming weekend tournaments for players of all levels.
Several Western Mass players have signed up for the upcoming 2007 Rhode Island Open, which is being held at Portsmouth Abbey on November 23rd – 25th. Players may sign up for the tournament until November 17th.
On November 30th – December 2nd, the Purple Cow Junior Gold Squash Open will be held at Williams College.
The 2007 – 2008 Massachusetts Squash Grand Prix is being held for the second year. Currently, there are eight tournaments scheduled:
- November 9th – 11th: Boston Racquet Club
- November 16th – 18th: Wheeler Cup at Concord Acton
- November 30th – December 2nd: University Club
- December 14th – 16th: Union Boat Club
- January 11th – 13th: January Thaw at Concord Acton
- February 1st – 3rd: SquashBusters
- February 9th – 10th: A Mature Event @ Maugus Club
- Spring 2008 (TBA): Sports Club of LA (in Boston)
According to Dan Reagan, the Mass Squash Open League Coordinator, “Grand Prix points are awarded to all players in all divisions, using a system that rewards both wins and participation. The further you get the more points you get. The more tournaments you play the more points you get. Each overall division winner receives a Grand Prize at the end of the season.” Perhaps in the near future, a Grand Prix tournament will be held in Western Mass.
