Saints visit Amherst
Published January 11, 2009 by Western Mass Squash | ArticlesAmherst, MA — On Saturday, the St. Lawrence Saints traveled to Amherst. Both Lord Jeffs squads were looking to rebound from Friday’s shutouts by Yale University.
In the men’s match, the 15th-ranked Amherst squad could not hold off 17th-ranked St. Lawrence. Drew Blacker, Jerome Giovinazzo, and Todd Lavine earned the Lord Jeffs’ victories. Steve Severson lost a close five-game match to the Saints’ Scott Redpath. Amherst drops to 3-3 on the season.
In the women’s match, the Lord Jeffs emerged with a victory by defeating St. Lawrence by a score of 8-1. Like Severson on the men’s side, Katie Savage played an exciting five-game match that was eventually won by St. Lawrence’s Jennifer Hearn.
