Amherst, Smith, and Mount Holyoke Invitational - Friday

Northampton and South Hadley, MA — The Smith/Mount Holyoke Invitational began today with three matches. Mount Holyoke hosted Colgate and emerged with a 7-2 victory. The Lyons’ top five players, Pamela Anckermann, Vidushi Gurunada, Menusha Hettiarachchi, Laurian Leu Yen, and Elizabeth Wright, only dropped a combined four points in the contest.

After the match, Colgate drove across the river to Smith College. In an extremely close contest, the Pioneers lost 4-5. Kate Whitesell, Margaret Oliverio, Kelsey Radwilowicz, and Elizabeth Hughes each recorded victories for Smith. The number two match between Colgate’s Jenny Dorland and Smith’s Sara Smyth went to five games. Dorland emerged with a 10-8 victory in the final game.

Smith also lost to Colby 9-0.
