2008 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup) - Saturday

Princeton, NJ — On the second day of the 2008 Women’s National Team Championship (Howe Cup), Western Mass teams had mixed results. Williams College advanced to the Kurtz Cup finals with a 9-0 victory over Bates. The Ephs will take on Cornell in the finals on Sunday.
Also in Kurtz Cup action, Mount Holyoke faced Cornell. The Lyon’s number one player Pam Anckermann recorded her team’s sole victory of the day. Mount Holyoke will face Bates in the 10-11 playoff on Sunday.
In the Walker Cup, Amherst lost a 5-4 match to Vassar. Longmeadow native and Vassar number five Anna Licht recorded a four-game victory over Amherst’s Melissa Moulton. Amherst will face William Smith on Sunday.
Smith lost 8-1 to Franklin and Marshall in the Epps Cup. Smith’s number one Kate Whitesell won the Pioneers’ sole individual victory. On Sunday, Smith will play Colgate.
