With Bear Stearns’ financial difficulties and merger with J.P. Morgan Chase, Western Mass Squash has been anticipating that Bear Stearns would end its sponsorship of the College Squash Association’s upcoming season and championships. Although there has not been an official announcement, the College Squash Association website’s banner has been modified.

The College Squash Association’s Individual Championships continued today. In the round of 16 of the Holleran Cup Consolation draw, Smith’s Kate Whitesell defeated Wellesley’s Sarah Odell in five games.

The College Squash Association’s Individual Championships began today. The Naval Academy is serving as this year’s host school. The women have two divisions - Ramsay Cup (A draw) and Holleran Cup (B draw). The men also have two divisions - Mallory Cup (A draw) and Potter Cup (B draw).

Western Mass — Last weekend, the Girls’ New England Interscholastic Squash Championships were held. The Championships were divided into A, B, and C classes. The class “A” was held at Choate Rosemary Hall, the class “B” was held at Brooks, and the class “C” was held at Miss Porter’s.

Boy’s New England Interscholastic Squash Championships Results

Western Mass — The results from the 55th annual Boys’ New England Interscholastic Squash Championships have been compiled. In the class “A” tournament, Deerfield finished in 15th place. In the class “B” tournament, Williston Northampton finished 8th and Berkshire finished 13th.

2008 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup) - Sunday

Princeton, NJ — On the final day of the 2008 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup), Williams defeated Cornell to capture the Kurtz Cup (B Division). Toby Eyre, Williams’ number one player, defeated Cornell’s Rachel Wagner in three games. The Ephs finished ninth in the tournament overall.
