Princeton, NJ — On the final day of the 2008 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup), Williams defeated Cornell to capture the Kurtz Cup (B Division). Toby Eyre, Williams’ number one player, defeated Cornell’s Rachel Wagner in three games. The Ephs finished ninth in the tournament overall.

Princeton, NJ — On the second day of the 2008 Women’s National Team Championship (Howe Cup), Western Mass teams had mixed results. Williams College advanced to the Kurtz Cup finals with a 9-0 victory over Bates. The Ephs will take on Cornell in the finals on Sunday.

Western Mass — Today, the College Squash Association published the draws for the 2008 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup) at Princeton University. Among the 38 teams competing on February 22nd - 24th are Amherst, Mount Holyoke, Smith, and Williams.

2008 Little Three Championships

Amherst, MA — On Saturday, Amherst College hosted Wesleyan and Williams for the annual Little Three Championship. Dating back to 1905, the rivalry between these three schools is considered the oldest conference rivalry in college athletics.
Williams won won both the men’s and women’s events by going undefeated. Amherst finished second by defeating Wesleyan.

Hartford, CT — This weekend, Trinity College hosted the annual New England Small College Athletic Conference Squash Championships. The Amherst and Williams squads participated in the event.

Northampton, MA — In the final day of the Smith/Mount Holyoke tournament, five matches were held at Smith. Opening play, Wesleyan defeated Franklin & Marshall 7-2. The Diplomats rebounded to beat host Smith 7-2. In the number one match, Smith’s Kate Whitesell defeated Davinia Buckley in three games.

South Hadley, MA — Mount Holyoke concluded the Smith/Mount Holyoke tournament with an undefeated record. The Lyons shutout Northeastern and beat Wesleyan 8-1. The Lyons’ Laura Robinson (#4) and Laurian Lue Yen (#5) went undefeated on the day and together only surrendered five points.

Amherst, MA — Amherst College split their final two matches of the Smith/Mount Holyoke tournament on Sunday. The Lord Jeffs opened with a 7-2 victory over William Smith. South Hadley, MA — Mount Holyoke hosted five matches at the Kendall Sport and Dance Center. The host school beat Colby 8-1 and Hamilton 6-3. Each of the Lyons’ individuals victories were by 3-0 scores.
Wellesley defeated Northeastern 5-4. The Northeastern defeated Colgate 9-0 and the Hamilton defeated Tufts 6-3.
